Training and Work Experience Scheme
|
The Training/Work Experience Scheme (TWES) is designed:
Employers who wish to offer training or work experience positions to international students are able to do so under the Training and Work Experience Scheme (TWES). TWES is for work based training for a profession or specialist qualification; or work experience.
The person on the TWES is required to return to their home country at the end of their training or work experience to use their new skills. Applicants for the TWES scheme must be:
- Qualified to at least N/SVQ level 3 or equivalent, or have 12 months work experience.
- Offered an additional post that is above the employers’ normal staff levels; it cannot be a position that would normally be filled by a resident worker.
- Able to complete their training and work experience in the shortest time possible. This is usually within 5 years for training posts and 12 months for work experience posts.
- In posts that comply with UK employment laws relating to tax, national insurance minimum wage and working time.
The work-based training must lead to a recognised qualification that requires an entry level of at least N/SVQ level 3 or equivalent. Employers providing the training must be approved by the appropriate professional body. Work experience posts offered on TWES should provide experience of at least N/SVQ level 3 or equivalent. If you wish to know more about TWES please don’t hesitate to contact us.
The conditions set out above may not apply if there is a head exchange between a UK and an overseas employer, or if the candidate in question is presently waiting for one of your overseas group companies abroad or is being salaried from abroad by an overseas group company.
