Ministers of Religion
This is the proof you will be asked to supply if you are wishing to enter the UK to work full-time as a minister of religion:
- You are in fact a religious/spiritual worker in charge of the congregation’s prayers and preaching in accordance with your religious or spiritual faith.
- You have obtained a work placement for more than 1 year as a minister or you have been ordained after a period of training for the ministry; this period of training should have been of 1 year if it’s was full-time of 2 year if part-time.
- You can support yourself without claiming Public Funds.
If you are wishing to remain in the UK after 1 year, you will be asked to prove that your position is still the same within the congregation, that your congregation still requires your presence and that you never claimed any Public Funds.
You will be expected to hold on to the same position. However the permission to change post may be granted by the Home Office if you still work as a minister of religion and you still comply with the requirements for immigration.
You may request Permanent Residency in the UK as a minister of religion if:
- You have constantly occupied a position as a minister of religion in the UK for at least four years;
- You have supported yourself without claiming any Public Funds.
- Your congregation still requires your services as a minister of religion
Remember to apply for the right to enter the UK as a Minister of Religion from the nearest British Embassy or Consulate where you live and before you leave.
