Gap-Year Entrants
A new scheme was announced by the Home Office allowing students from outside the EU/EEA to come to work in UK schools while in their gap year ( break after secondary school and before University)
This are the criteria for a Gap-Year Visa, the applicant must:
- Be aged between18 or 19 years old.
- Have completed secondary education less than 1 year ago.
- Been unreservedly accepted on a degree course, which you will start after your stay in the UK.
- Have a written proof that a school in the UK is willing to employ you for three consecutive terms to work as a teacher or teacher’s assistant.
- Not take up any other employment than the one you presented to support your application.
- Have enough money to pay for your return or onward journey.
- Prove that you will be able to support yourself while you are in the UK without needing to claim for public funds;
- Be able to prove that your intention isn’t to remain in the UK after 1 year and that you are genuinely willing to start University abroad.
As a teacher or a teaching assistant you must be involved directly in the teaching process in the classroom, and you can be expecting to do some administrative work within the school too.
Remember to apply for entry clearance from a British Embassy or high Commission where you usually reside before intending to enter the UK on a Gap Year Visa.
